Derek Hough is providing an update on his wife, Hayley Erbert Hough, after she was hospitalized and underwent an emergency craniectomy last week.
The "Dancing With the Stars" judge wrote in an Instagram post Friday that Erbert is "on the long road of recovery" after the emergency surgery following a performance in Washington D.C.
"Hayley has always inspired me with her will, her strength, and her resilience and no more so than in the last 48 hrs," Hough wrote. "She is now on the long road of recovery."
The professional dancer also shared his thanks for the outpouring of support.
"Words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are for the support and love that you have given us," Hough, 38, said. "The kindness that we've been shown in this incredibly unfathomable and life-changing time is immeasurable. The offers of assistance that have poured in have been so humbling and appreciated."
He continued: "Our hope is that as a family, we can somehow and some way pay it forward."
The "Hairspray Live" actor shared in an Instagram post Thursday that Erbert, 29, was hospitalized due to a "cranial hematoma."
"At the end of last night's tour performance in Washington, D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital," he wrote at the time. "She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition."
An intracranial hematoma is a "collection of blood within the skull," according to the Mayo Clinic, usually "caused by a blood vessel that bursts in the brain," but can also "be caused by trauma such as a car accident or fall. The blood may collect in the brain tissue or underneath the skull, pressing on the brain."
"I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her. I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time," Hough said in his post.

Fellow celebrities took to the comments to send their well-wishes following Hough's latest update.
"No need to repay any prayers," "DWTS" co-host Alfonso Ribeiro wrote. "We are all holding you both in our hearts."
"Haven't stopped praying and won't stop," Jennifer Love Hewitt wrote. "So glad you have each other and beautiful families to help her and you. Sending you all healing and love."
"I am so heartened to hear she is recovering," "DWTS" Season 32 contestant Mira Sorvino added. "Thank God! Our family sends all our love to yours!!"
The couple tied the knot in August, saying "I do" in front of family and friends in a redwood forest in Northern California's Monterey County on Aug. 26, People reported. Hough's publicist Susan Madore confirmed the wedding to USA TODAY.
The couple began dating in 2015 after meeting on "DWTS": Erbert was a dancer on the show for seven seasons and four tours. Before joining the judge's table, Hough was a "DWTS" pro dancer, winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy a record-breaking six times in the televised dance competition. They announced their engagement on June 2, 2022, with joint Instagram posts.
